Alewine Pottery - It is well known that music has played a major role in the culture of the Smoky Mountains and Southern Appalachia. Clawhammer banjo, flatpicking guitar, and the doghouse bass are just some of the terms you may hear while you are in the mountains. At Alewine Pottery, Joan and Jerry Paul embody this part of the Appalachian heritage as much as the colors on the trees in Autumn. This couple has been making music together for several years, and share a great love and appreciation for the music of the area. Joan’s voice is like a cool, mountain stream its crisp clarity, while Jerry’s steady bass and sense of humor provides a compliment that makes the couple hard to resist.
