SEVIERVILLE -- May 21, 2002 - Toronto Blue Jay pitcher Chris Carpenter will make a rehab start for the Tennessee Smokies this Thursday at Smokies Park against the Jacksonville Suns. Carpenter is on the Blue Jay's 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendonitis.
Carpenter is 45-46 over six seasons in 141 games with Toronto. Carpenter is 0-1 this year in two starts. He last pitched April 21 against the New York Yankees, giving up three runs in three innings. Thursday will mark Carpenter's first rehabilitation start.
Carpenter will be the second Toronto pitcher to rehab with the Smokies this year. Esteban Loaiza went 2-0 with the Smokies over two starts.
